We will advantage of some time to relax at one of the best hotels on the island of Mykonos to enjoy one of Greece’s most gorgeous beaches, Platys Gialos, lounge by the pool and ride wave runners along the beach.

We will start our evening by discovering the Plaka and Thession/Psirri areas. Then we'll visit Haritos Street near Kolonaki to bar hop and rub shoulders with Athens sophisticated arty set. We won't plan on dining until after 10 pm just like the locals, and then if we have any energy left we'll dance at one of the many hotspots. What a fun evening!

Milton called Athens “the eye of Greece, mother of arts and eloquence.” The ancient remains of Athens today constitute one of the brightest jewels of the Mediterranean. It will quickly become evident that half the population of Greece lives in Athens, and despite this, the Ancient City and the Acropolis have been kept fairly intact. Perhaps the most famous temple of the Ancient City is the Parthenon, dedicated to the patron Goddess of Athens,Athena. Walking up a winding path towards the Acropolis we will pass through the Propylaea and see the Erechtheum temple and the Porch of the Caryatids in the distance. Reinforced by the hand of man, the natural fortress of the Acropolis stands 230 feet above the city.You will see the allmarble Olympic Stadium built for the modern Olympic Games in 1896. We will pass the National Gardens, drive along University Street and see its neoclassical buildings, some of which are the Academy, the University and the Library.

We will meet our guide and walk to the Castle of Bodrum, created by the Knights of Rhodes out of stone plundered from the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Castle has five distinct towers. Stop at the Sunken Boat Museum that showcases artifacts found underwater dating from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. Some of the most interesting items came from a Syrian trade ship believed to have sunk in the 13th century BC. We will also visit the Carian Princess section to see a beautiful tiara of gold. Next, sail the magnificent coves of the Bodrum Peninsula in a gulet—the typical wooden boat of the region that has plied these waters for centuries.

We will explore the amazing city of Istanbul beginning with a visit to the Byzantine Hippodrome where chariot races in honor of the emperors once took place. Remnants of the Romans are also seen in the obelisks gracing the park. Step inside the Blue Mosque, named for the magnificent blue-green Iznik tiles used for its interior decoration. We will move on to visit Topkapi Palace—the official residence of the Ottoman Sultans for almost 400 years. We will see the old kitchen houses, which display rich collections of Chinese and Japanese porcelain, and visit the Treasury Section displaying the priceless pieces of jewelry that once belonged to the Ottoman Sultans. Last, but certainly not least, we will visit the worldfamous Grand Bazaar.

We will savor delicious cuisine in a setting that is utterly beyond compare—among the ruins of ancient Ephesus! To begin the momentous evening, we will be picked up from the pier and driven to the ruins at Ephesus. Dinner will be served in front of the remains of the Celsus Library which was constructed in AD 117. We will dine under the stars among some of the most prized ancient architectural achievements in the world, with the magnificent library view. A classical music trio from the Aegean Chamber Orchestra will play for us during dinner.

We will explore the quintessential wine region of Tuscany, learning about the history of the distinctive and historical wine making region of Italy. Our expert guides will share with us their vast knowledge of wine, and more important, offer us a sampling of some of their favorites. Tuscany is not only famous for its wine but also its olive oil. We will taste some of the famous Crostini Toscano as we learn why extra virgin olive oil plays such an important role in Italian Cuisine.

This tour will begin with a beautiful drive 30 miles along the east coast of Rhodes, taking us past picturesque little villages. A wonderful scent laces the air as you pass orange and lemon groves, vineyards and gnarled old olive trees. On this tour, you may walk up to the summit of the Acropolis or, if you wish, a donkey will take you most of the way. Once we have reached the site we will visit the 4th-century BC Doric Temple of Athena Lindia. The acropolis boasts a double-winged portico, a Byzantine church, the fortifications of the Knights and the remains of the Governor’s quarters. There is a breathtaking view from the top of the Acropolis and Rhodes, Greece at its foot we will see St. Paul’s Bay, where the Apostle Paul landed in the AD 51 to preach Christianity to the Rhodians. Below the Acropolis, we will see the old, whitewashed houses and the narrow streets of Lindos—a town whose beauty has inspired artists and writers for years.

A local launch transfers us to Athineos port, where we will join a motor coach tour to the enchanting village of Oia. The switchback road affords great views of the caldera and Profitis Ilias mountain. The picturesque village of Oia is where many of the published photographs of Santorini are taken. It is here that you will see blue-domed churches, bell towers, old two-story mansions and narrow, cobblestone streets lined with tiny shops selling handmade ceramics, paintings and semi-precious jewelry; all situated in a Bohemian atmosphere.

A local caique boat will take us from the ship to Nea Kameni where we will sail along the volcanic shores viewing the peculiar rock formations. Disembarking the caique, we will hike 45 minutes up to the crater of the still-active volcano.
