As everyone knows, we have been friends for a long time. We met years ago when we were both working at bars owned by the same man. A few years later, Guido became a reserve on the police department where I work. During hurricane Katrina, he worked along side of me for many days, under some of the worst conditions anyone could imagine. Almost one year after Katrina Guido asked me to go out and listen to a band. That night he told me how he felt about me. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Somewhere in that long road of friendship, our feelings changed. The one thing we always hear from friends and family is, "It's about time". We are now both police officers full time. We are the first couple that will be married and police officers at our department.
The wedding and reception will be held at the LajMahal in Poplarville. It is otherwise known as Johnny's camp. Johnny Miles has been a great friend to both of us through the years. The wedding is semi-formal. Shauna has been wonderful with all the help planning for it all. My mom is decorating my dress and doing all the flowers. Our children will be the wedding party. The girls will look so cute in their rennaisance chemises. The boys are wearing swordsman shirts, Adam's not too happy about the puffy sleeves. You know I had to be different. Shauna and Mellisa will read short poems. We are so excited to share this day with all of our friends and family.
The reception will follow the ceremony. We will have lots of great food and John Lejune will be there as our friend and the DJ. My dad is making his famous stuffed tomatos and Guido's mom is making the most delicious chicken and dumplings. Too many other things to mention here. There will be a cash bar provided by L&C. We will also have a coffee station with different flavors. Vernon is coming all the way from Oklahoma. He gave me the good news that he is going to help with the food. For those of you who remember, Vernon was the best chef Bogalusa ever had! I hope everyone wears their dancing shoes, we are going to have a great time!
We took our honeymoon a little later than expected due to my injury at work. Thank you to Celia and Eddie for the wonderful cabin. Tennessee was beautiful and I did get to see and play in the snow. Thank you to everyone for the honeymoon gifts. It was the best time in our lives.
