Honeymoon Wishes
Lynn Davidson & Rob Lackey
Location: Tuscaloosa, AL
Rob and I met while out with friends in Tuscaloosa in January 2004 while we were both students at the University of Alabama. We had our first date a week after we met and we both knew that night that we had found something special. We have now been together for almost four and a half years and we can't wait to finally be married. I think we were both surprised that two people as picky as we are managed to find someone so perfect for us. For those of you who have not met one of us, imagine the hard-working, fun-loving, stubborn, competitive, intelligent side of the person you do know and believe it or not, it is matched by the other one.

After Rob graduated, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. A little over a year later Rob was deployed to Camp Arfijan, Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rob logged over 30,000 miles in Iraq leading convoys of supplies and soliders and everyone who knows what he went through over there could not be prouder of the job that he did and the lives that he saved. During his year of deployment the distance and the constant fear and uncertainty we both went through cements the fact that we can get through anything together.

After Rob returned from his deployment in November 2006, we took a week-long vacation to Cancun, Mexico where we had an amazing time. On the last night of our stay as we were walking on the moonlit beach, Rob grabbed my hand and dropped to one knee in the sand and asked if I would marry him. I, being a girl, started crying as soon as I realized what he was doing and told him Yes, that nothing would make me happier.

We are still living in Lawton, Oklahoma where Rob is becoming a battery commander at Ft. Sill in June. We cannot wait to come back home and share our special day with our friends and family.
Rob and I agreed that we would rather have the two of us travel back to the South for our wedding than have a hundred guests make the same trip out here so we decided to have our wedding in Tuscaloosa, AL, a place that is very special and holds wonderful memories for both of us.
I guess you don't realize the full extent of the difficulties you face planning a wedding from 900 miles away until you actually do it, but now that we are only a couple of months away, things are finally beginning to fall into place.

We wanted to have our wedding in a spectacular location and we knew we had found it when we visited the University Club, a beautiful and stately antebellum mansion. We will be holding the ceremony on the gorgeous front lawn which looks out onto University Boulevard and our reception will be immediately following inside the University Club.

We see our wedding day as essentially the biggest party we ever get to throw for our family and friends and that is the aspect we are most looking forward to (besides the getting married part of course). We hope everyone will have a wonderful time and that our friends and family will enjoy meeting each other and spending time with us.

We both feel so lucky to have found each other and to get along so well with each other's families and I personally cannot wait to become an official member of the Lackey family (although as many of you know, you feel like a member of their family as soon as you meet them).
Our reception will begin immediately following the wedding ceremony and photos. We hope that everyone will enjoy the food and drinks and dancing and visiting with each other and with us.

We hope that having our wedding and reception in Tuscaloosa will allow everyone to experience the town and the University that we fell in love with and the place where we fell in love with each other. We also know that the hospitality you will feel in Tuscaloosa is unparalleled (unless of course you're an Auburn, LSU or Tennessee fan :)
Being a college town where thousands of football fans travel every fall weekend, there are many hotels in Tuscaloosa to choose from. We recommend the Courtyard Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn Express or the Four Points Sheraton, which is the hotel closest to the wedding. . Please let us know if you need directions or any help locating a hotel room.
Thank you so much for viewing our honeymoon registry and wedding website and hopefully attending our wedding and reception. For those who are unable to attend due to distance or scheduling conflicts, you will be missed but we also completely understand. We are both so appreciative of the support of our friends and family throughout our relationship. Rob and I feel so lucky not only to have found each other but to have such wonderful friends and family that care about both of us and we look forward to seeing everyone on May 24th.
We are also really looking forward to our dream honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica, where we will make memories to last throughout our lives! We are also registered at Dillard's and at Linens and Things. WE LOVE AND THANK EACH ONE OF YOU!
