Lisa Beasley & James Illum
Location: Port Charlotte, FL
It all started with a bet: Lisa's roommate, also named Lisa, was really into internet dating. One day, roommate Lisa approached Lisa with a proposition. Who could get the most responses from an internet profile. Lisa only received two responses, one of those came from Jim. Their first date included dinner at Smokey Bones BBQ and a few games of pool. He didn't even let her win! After that night, they were inseperable! After over four years of laughter and tears; good times and bad, he finally proposed. The proposal: On September 9, 2007, Jim took Lisa for a sunset flight over Lee County. They took off in a very small Cessna 172 airplane over the Caloosahatchee River. They circled around Cape Coral and Lisa realized that she was terrified. She asked Jim to head back home...He reluctantly agreed. So, on the way back to the airport, he asked, "Are you mentally and emotionally stable right now?" She agreed. He followed with, "Well, I know you have waited for this for a long time, but would you marry me?" The rest is history...
The wedding is set for November 1, 2008, in Port Charlotte, Florida. The wedding and reception will be held at the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. The wedding, barring any bad weather, will be held outside right on the water. The reception will be inside and is guaranteed to be a great time!
Guests travelling from out of town should plan on flying into RSW- Southwest Florida International Airport, in Fort Myers. There are many rental car agencies with counters at the airport. Port Charlotte is a 30 minute drive north. It is also recommended to try Tampa International Airport, TPA. The drive is about an hour and 20 minutes south, but can sometimes be less expensive. Hotel recommendations: Best Western Waterfront hotel in Punta Gorda. It's very close to the event. Many rooms are waterfront, overlooking the Peace River. A block of rooms will eventually be held for the wedding. There are other hotels in Port Charlotte, but the Best Western is the most conveinent.
