Last year my sister, Rachael, was in 8th grade and at the beginning of second semester she came home saying, "Guess what I did today?" She ended up telling me that she gave my phone number to her 8th grade social studies teacher, Mr. Zoeller (Adam). I was so embarassed that she would ever do something like that and I figured he wouldn't call because I probably sounded like some desperate older sister living in her parents' basement. Much to my surprise Adam called anyways. I went over to his house in late February and he cooked me dinner. He even cleared all the snow off my car when I was leaving. When he said "I'd like to see you again", I replied with "Well, we'll play it by ear." After that Adam was like "I just made her this girl dinner and cleared her car for her and she wants to play it by ear?" We both probably thought it was the end but Adam called again (for some reason we just don't know). We went to breakfast and apparently, I talked to much and he didn't talk at all so it didn't go so great. After I came back from spring break, he called yet another time. At this point I was like, "This is the last date and I am going to tell him that we should go our separate ways because I just don't feel a connection." We went to lunch and surprisingly, everything was great! We had a great time and we were unseparable ever since!
I spent the summer on a mission trip in Germany for 5 weeks and Adam and I had discussed marriage over our phone dates several times. We both anticipated it but I had no idea when a proposal would come. When I came back home in mid-July I was getting ready to be in my friend's wedding so I was super busy. After the reception was finished Adam wanted me to come over to his place to work on some Sunday school plans. I reluctantly went (I was so jet lagged) and when I walked inside his house, the dining room was lit up with candles and roses were everywhere. He got down on one knee and said, "I only want to do two things in life, love Christ and love you. Will you marry me?" Of course I said yes and now we are here, planning our wedding which is just around the corner!
