Location: St. Augustine, Florida
Mike and I met on January 21, 2007. Neither one of us realized what God had in store for us that night! I had recently got out of a serious relationship and truly wanted nothing to do with another man for a while. Mike had never even been in a serious relationship before and he was enjoying the single life. We were both just along for the ride with our friends! As soon as he walked in the door I said in my head "I'm going to marry that man." I quickly laughed that thought away and only told 2 other people I had even said it. The night progressed and the more we were around each other the harder it was to stay away. Our favorite memory from the night is when Mike introduced me to a watermelon bomb and I dropped the shot from as high as I could and covered us both, as well as the ENTIRE bar in alcohol. I looked at him SO embarrassed and he just laughed it off and handed me some napkins.

We were engaged on June 27, 2008 at Downtown Disney in Orlando. Mike had recently returned from a 7 month deployment and we were excited to get away from everything and just enjoy each other’s company. The week was not what we expected! We were rained out of almost every single park and it seemed like the horrible weather was making us bummed. We decided to leave a day early. On our last day there we had tickets to go see the Cirque de Sole show and decided to relax, shop, and eat at Downtown Disney that day. The weather was amazing! I was so sick of eating out at this point that when Mike asked me what I felt like, I said "I don't know how about McDonald's or something easy?" The look on his face was priceless; that should have been my first clue! Long story short we decided on a Cuban restaurant called Bongos. When the hostess asked us where we wanted to sit I quickly said "inside" and Mike had another weird look on his face. 3 table switches later, and now outside by the water we had a secluded table that was perfect. The food was amazing, but being Cuban food Mike eventually excused himself to go to the restroom. He came back, asked if I wanted dessert, then we got the check from our waiter. Normally, I grab the check to look it over and make sure everything is correct. He was counting on that, but it didn't happen! I looked at him like "are you going to pay that or what? We're going to be late!" Finally I grabbed the check; saw a charge for champagne that we didn't order and said "See this is why I always check!" and quickly started trying to get the waiter’s attention to fix it. I totally missed the gorgeous ring that was now right in front of my face. The rest was a blur, but it was the best proposal ever and I was ridiculously surprised.
