Our Story
We met on a crazy night out on the town in January, right in the middle of Bricktown Oklahoma City. At a club downtown called City Walk I noticed David almost immediately in his black leather jacket, totally pulling off that bad boy look. He noticed me too, but lost me in the crowd somehow. We ran into each other again a few hours later and ended up dancing together all night. Neither one of us were looking, but we both found a best friend that night. After a week or two of knowing each other, we began to share every spare minute we had. The first few months were full of sweet notes, chocolate, and flowers stuck under windshield wipers after work; random "I'm thinking of you's" seemed to be a specialty for both of us. October 11, 2008 David and I went to Applebees with his family to hang out and have some drinks. After about an hour of laughing and telling jokes and stories with them, David pulled me outside and into his car with no explanation except a "just trust me." He made a quick stop at the house then drove and parked by the curb in a strange neighborhood. We got out and he warned me to run if we saw cops... I was intrigued. We hopped a fence and found ourselves on a golf course. After a short trek he spread out a blanket and broke out some spiked flavored coffee and an almond joy. We talked and laughed and shared the candy bar for about an hour. Then all of a sudden, David holds me tight and pops the question. I was quiet for a few seconds, trying to decide if he was serious or just curious. He was serious. YAY!!! We are getting married!
Our Wedding
We have chosen Blooms of Love in Dodge Center MN. It is a huge garden at a sweet lady's house. The last week in June and the first in July are supposed to be statistically the two weeks of the year when it does not rain, so we are pretty optimistic about having our wedding outdoors. Even if it does rain, maybe we'll just get wet! We do have emergency arrangements made just in case, but really, a little water never hurt anyone! So, the garden has a sidewalk the kind of winds through it and goes past a pond and a small bridge with a waterfall behind it. We still have a lot of planning to do but it is looking perfect so far!
Our Reception
The Eagles Club in Rochester MN has a great dance floor and stage. The room is all brick inside and it has a bar on both ends for those who get thirsty. I made some cute centerpieces yesterday but David and Adam are still working on the music selections.
There are these great hot pink flower chains I want to get to hang in front of the head table but we'll have to see if I can talk the groom into those... It's getting so close!
Travel Arrangements
We have a cruise planned!!! Its about time right? We will be flying out of Minneapolis MN to Ft. Lauder dale FL and staying in a 5 star hotel on the beach there with an ocean front room for 2 days. After that we will board a ship bound for Bermuda! The cruise will last 3 days and end up back in Florida in the grand city of Orlando. We will spend 2 more nights there for a grand total of a 7 day honeymoon.
