The lovebirds met in Portland, Oregon at Oaks park. Oaks park is a skating rink, but also an amusement park! We're both very avid skaters and really enjoy skating together.
The engagement- We took a little vacation to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to visit some of the brides family and friends and just have some fun in the sun. Cody decided that we would go for a walk on the beach on about our 4th night there. It was beautiful the way the moon lit up the ocean. It was very romantic! He brought a large beach blanket for us to sit on and some ginger ale's. We talked for a while and had our drinks... then he turned to me and held my hands. He told me he wanted to love me forever then pulled out a box from his pocket, I knew what it had to be, but I couldn't believe it! He opened the box and asked me, " Do I have to get on one knee to do this? because I can't move, my legs are trembling and I can't feel them." I laughed and told him he could stay sitting! :) Then he said, " would you please have me forever and be my wife?" I was so happy I started to cry!! After asking him too many times if this was for real and if he was sure, I happily said, "YES!" That was in April of 2006, today, 3 years ago. I thought I loved him so much then... but my love has grown for him extensively over this time that it's hard to describe the way we feel for each other.
We've gone through so much in these years since we got engaged. We've struggled with people not wanting us together, learning how to be a family... it's not easy to be a step-parent, and even not having a home for 3 months due to money struggles. That's why after all this, we know we were meant to be together. Our LOVE has never failed, in fact, instead of tearing us apart... every turbulation has brought us closer together! We're so happy and so very much in love... We just can't wait till the 4th of July to vow before God and everyone that we promise to love and honor each other the way He intended for always and forever. (I've never been so excited to grow old with someone, now I know what my Mom meant!)
We Can't wait for our wedding and we're counting down the days! We hope you all will be there! The event is taking place in Gresham, Oregon at Skateworld. We wanted to get married in a skating rink since that's where we met...
On the 4th of July the sparks will fly as we say our "I Do's" at 6:00p.m. !!!
Our reception will follow immediately after the wedding at the same location. There will be dinner and dancing and all the great wedding festivities! Now even though our wedding is considered formal to semi-formal, we are inviting guests to bring a change of clothes for the last 2 hours of our reception (from about 8:30-10ish) for roller skating for everyone. Even if you don't like to skate... that's okay! We've planned some skate shows for you to enjoy as well!
We're so excited for our wedding day!!! We are so in love and want to share our hapiness with all of you! Our registry is especially exciting for us because we think it's such a better alternative for us rather than the traditional gift regstries you normally see. Because we've been together for a while, we really don't need items for our home. There's nothing we want more than to have our beautiful wedding, then be wisked away to somewhere beautiful to enjoy each other for a short time alone. We're really hoping our goals for this are met, but are really grateful to all of you for any help we recieve. We know wherever our honeymoon takes us... we'll love it cause we'll be together!
