Veronica Arena & David Basydlo
Our Story
Hello everyone! Welcome to our wedding website!! We are very excited to announce we will be getting married in Jamaica---next month! July 18th to be exact. No, we can't fly you all there with us, so we've created this website to share the news with you. We'd also like to share a brief history of how we met--"our story"--for those of you who may not know.
David is originally from Pinckney, MI. He attended Michigan State University for Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. He moved to Lake Waccamaw from Michigan four and half years ago. Shortly after his move, he started the Magnolia Garden Shop & Landscaping at the lake.
Veronica is originally from Whiteville, NC. She attended UNC Wilmington for nursing and has been an ER nurse at Cape Fear Hospital for 10 years. She also helps out at the garden shop, which is now a florist as well.
David and V met while she was working on the Cypress Shores subdivision in Spring 2007 (far cry from nursing--long story). She was referred to him for landscaping work. Over the course of about a year, David proved himself to be the most courteous, dependable, and respectful person she worked with throughout the project. After David's portion of the project was completed, one spring day in 2008, he asked her out.
Not too long after that, their first "non-business" phone conversation, which lasted throughout the night, led to their first date-- a picnic in David's back yard with V's sons, John and Nicolas. From that point, it didn't take long before they knew this was IT. They both feel very blessed to have found one another.
Our Wedding
Updated: July 27, 2009.
The wedding was wonderful! Everything went w/out a hitch. The resort's wedding coordinator, LaToya, did a fantastic job handling all the details and making it completely stress-free for Dave and myself. The minister, Rev. Black, besides being a Samuel L. Jackson look-a-like, had a whimsical personality that went as far as blowing bubbles on us as we both signed the marriage certificates :-). The ceremony was just right. The resort photographer, Rohan, did a beautiful job as well. We felt like models after he took us around the resort snapping different poses following the ceremony. We will upload some photos here, but for those of you on Facebook, we've put most of them there on both of our pages, so check there as well.
Our Reception
Reception was short and simple on the pool-side lawn under palm trees w/ a backdrop of beautiful Carribean colored ocean. The Jamaican fruit cake was as delicious as it sounds (rum flavoring in there), and as mentioned above, the minister showered us w/ hand blown wedding bubbles as we signed the marriage certificates.

Travel Arrangements
Flights there went well. On the way back we had weather and mechanical delays in Atlanta, so the layover there lasted 4 hrs. We didn't return home until almost midnight thursday the 23rd.

A Special Message From Us
Thank you so much for taking the time to view our wedding website. We're loving married life and would happily recommend a destination wedding for others. It also ended up being so much more affordable than going the traditional route. Take care everyone, and thanks to those of you who have been so generous to us!!
