Leah Booth & Robin Parker
Location: Mary's Lake Lodge & Resort, Estes Park, CO
It all started back in 2003…at a small university in Wichita, KS. Robin was finishing up his freshman year at Newman University, about to head back to CO for the summer. Leah was visiting Newman on her recruiting trip as she wrapped up her senior year at Onate High School back in New Mexico. To be honest with you, their first meeting was nothing near storybook. In fact, a future teammate of Leah’s introduced the two for the first time in Merlini Hall (Newman U Dorm). Robin and Leah shared a brief introduction as Robin prepared to head home.
The summer passed quickly and it was “Back to school” sooner than you could shake two sticks at. Robin was returning to Newman for his sophomore year and luckily enough for him, Leah had decided to pursue academics and volleyball at Newman and began her freshman year. Throughout the 2003/2004 school year, Leah and Robin developed a friendly relationship through common friends and their mutual love for volleyball. It wasn’t until the end of 2003 that they started to recognize that their relationship and feelings for each other were growing. To be specific, February of 2004 is when it all began, “officially.”
Now that Robin and Leah were an “item,” life was good for the two. Both continued to enjoy more and more success in the classroom, as well as on the volleyball court. As their relationship blossomed through the college years, many lifelong memories were created. Now, the summers in between school were not always easy. Summer meant long days and nights away from the comfort of each others arms. As a matter of fact, one summer in particular Leah and Robin grew so lonely that they hatched a plan to drive and meet each other halfway between Las Cruces, NM and Longmont, CO. Their destination, the ever lively, Las Vegas, NM proved to be the perfect spot for Leah and Robin to enjoy a “romantic” getaway together.
The end of college approached for Robin. His plans didn’t involve sticking around Wichita but rather included a lengthy trip to South America followed by the eventual start to his career with First National Bank in CO. With one year still remaining at Newman, Leah stayed behind in Wichita. In time, Robin graduated, tied up loose ends, and continued back to CO where he would soon leave for South America. This time represented the longest that Leah and Robin had gone without seeing each other since the beginning. When Robin returned from vacation, he quickly arranged a trip to Wichita to see Leah. Reunited, the couple resumed right back where they left off. After the sweet reunion, Robin returned to Colorado where he waited patiently for Leah to finish up at Newman in 2007 and eventually join him in Arvada, CO.
Arvada, CO is where Robin and Leah began their post-Newman lives together. Robin worked as a banker and Data Administration Analyst for First National Bank and Leah as a Lab-Technician for SGS Laboratories in Denver. A year later, Leah was accepted into the Occupational Therapy masters program at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO. After receiving the good news of Leah’s acceptance the two moved to Loveland, CO. It was here, in Loveland, on January 31, 2009, at sunrise, that Robin led a blindfolded Leah out onto frozen Lake Loveland, and asked her to share the rest of her life with him. As some of you may have heard, she said “YES!”
Currently, the couple enjoys life in Loveland and continues to cherish the joys of wedding planning. They look forward to spending their special day with you.
