A little bit about how they met....
Tara started her new job in Rome at Floyd Medical Center last summer. Soon after she started, a mutual friend, Allison Key (one of the bridesmaids), begged her to meet a friend. At the same time, Allison was talking to Jamie and decided to set up a cookout to "just hang out." So on August 4, 2007, Jamie met Tara at a cookout in Bowdon, GA. Tara saw Jamie on the carport and said "Hi" and walked right past him (because she was embarrassed) into the kitchen with the girls. Jamie saw Tara and thought "wow...she's pretty." They stayed apart until a game of Rook was started. Jamie came and sat next to Tara and tried to teach her how to play...although they lost every game :) After a couple of days of waiting, Jamie finally called Tara and the rest is history.
Now for the engagement.....
On May 10, 2008, Jamie called Tara's daddy (Jimmy) and set up a time to meet with him. They met and Jimmy gave Jamie permission to ask his daughter to marry him (and some little words of advice:)
On May 11, 2008, Jamie and Tara set out for Cancun, Mexico for a vacation (for Jamie's 30th birthday.) Jamie's nerves were high, and at the airport, Tara's luggage was searched. Jamie was concerned because he thought the airport security was also going to search his luggage in front of Tara....the ring in the box was laying on top!! Luckily it did not get searched. So on May 12, 2008, while in the hotel room, Jamie got down on one knee and asked Tara to be his wife. Tara shouted "What are you doing??" and doesn't remember anything Jamie said after that. The next question was "Did you ask my daddy??"
Future plans....
The couple is planning to eventually live in Cedar Bluff, AL at the lake house; however they may be residing in Burwell, GA until Jamie's transfer through AT&T comes through.
The wedding will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Davis (the bride's parents) on November 8, 2008 at four o'clock in the afternoon. The ceremony will be held outside on the gazebo over the lake. Tara's grandparent's, Dennis and Betty Brown, built the gazebo and placed the years of birth of the whole family on wooden plaques that are hung on the gazebo. Dennis Brown passed away in 1999 and this will be in memory of him. They would also like to remember all of their late grandparents, Jimmy Leon Davis Sr., Horace Wright, Effie Mae Wright, Grady Howell, and Theodosie Howell.
The reception will be held following the ceremony, also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Davis. Great catering of both food and beverages will be provided. There will also be a DJ with plenty of dancing to come. Guests will be asked to park their vehicles in the park (Sweetwater Valley Park....also on the property of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Davis) and will be shuttled in vans to and from the wedding/reception.
If you would like to stay the night in Villa Rica after the wedding, there is a Best Western and a Comfort Inn off of Interstate I-20 at Exit 24. If you have a RV you may stay the night at Sweetwater Valley Park.
