Our Wedding
Our ceremony and reception will take place at the Ochoco Ranger Station group camp ground. This beautiful site sits in an open pine grove, with a large meadow which has arrowhead balsamroot and lupines. A small creek runs along the border of the site.
The site has an open air pavilion where bbq, beer & wine will be served at the reception. For those of you who want to camp out we encourage you to bring your camping gear and make an evening of it. It will give us a chance to hang out and relax with our friends after all the days activities have slowed down.
The Ochoco Ranger Station is approximately 25 miles east of Prineville, OR. A number of hiking trails can be accessed near tot he campground there is also a reservoir nearby which had good bass fishing if you're into it. Birders bring your bins! Lots of opportunities for warblers, woodpeckers, sapsuckers, flycatchers, sparrows, raptors, even owls if you take a late evening walk.
Travel Arrangements
The nearest airport is Redmond's Roberts Field. Airport code RDM
Portland airport is PDX and approximately 3 hours drive from the wedding site. A shuttle bus run by Central Oregon Breeze leaves regularly from Portland to Bend. You must reserve you seat on the bus. www.cobreeze.com
There are plenty of hotels in Bend and Prineville. If you are coming for more than one day, we recommend staying in Bend where you have access to a multitude of activities, including fishing, hiking, camping, boating (many lakes and the Deschutes River) plus your normal urban entertainment. Prineville is much more homely and definitely has a small town "ranching" lifestyle.
For those planning to camp out with the bride and groom on Saturday, bring your normal camping gear. The days will be warm, but nights can get chilly; so bring the right sleeping bag.
