Jocelyn Neff & Ryan Maas

Our Story

Ryan and I met when I started working at Ruby's Diner in March of 2003. Ryan had already been at Ruby's for two months. We immediately became work friends, however when I drove him home one day, he noticed my Weezer sticker on my car. It was then that we both realized that we had more in common than just our jobs, and slowly became better friends. We always joked at work that the other was our favorite, and knew that we meant it. After two years of a wonderful friendship, it became more. Ryan and I started to become closer, and finally we had our first date out, without friends, but with my mom. I was getting ready to take my mom out for dinner, when Ryan called and asked what I was doing. I told him to come with us and he did. I remember the whole night like it was yesterday. I was so nervous, and my mom made it worse by reminding me how cute he was.
Ryan was so polite, and even payed for our dinner. I was smitten. Here I was sitting with my mom and the man of my dreams. After dinner, we dropped off my mom and I assumed Ryan would want to go home. Once we got on the freeway, he asked what we were doing next.
We ended up at Downtown Disney. Ryan and I played video games and I'm sure to this day he let me win, what a gentleman. And it was there in the Grand Californian that Ryan and I first held hands. After walking around we sat under the stars, surrounded by trees and beautiful arcitecture and talked. Ryan held me in his arms, and for hours we just sat, talking. I thought I could stay there forever, and be the luckiest girl in the world.
After we left, I dropped Ryan off at home. The entire time I couldn't stop smiling, and had the worst case of the butterflies. As Ryan got out, he asked if he could take me out on a "real date" the following week. Of course I said "Yes!"
The following week at work, I could barely function. All I could think about was Ryan. After what seemed a lifetime, the week was over and it was time for our date. Ryan took me to a lovely restaraunt in Whittier called Lascari's and we had the best waiter ever, his brother Tony. Neither Ryan or I could eat, we were both so nervous. Ryan asked what I wanted to do, and we decided on going to a beach. Ryan's favorite beach was San Clemente, and we walked on the pier and the beach. We sat on the lifegaurd tower #1, and talked. I finally decided I wanted to walk with my feet in the water. We rolled up our pants, took off our shoes and we were off. The water was freezing, and a big wave came and soaked us. I ran to Ryan, trying to get away from a wave, he held me, and we had our first kiss. I remember being so nervous, but could no longer feel the cold water.
After we left, Ryan took me back to his house. He gave me some dry pants to wear, we sat on his floor, and Ryan played me songs on his keyboard. I rememver thinking how lucky I was. There Ryan was, the man I always dreamed of. He was exteremly handsome, he treated me like a princess, was always kind, curteous, but best yet he played piano. It was then that i knew my life was set. Ryan was not only the man of my dreams, but the love of my life.
3 1/2 years later he proposed at club 33.
