Nicole Leiter & Alan Olson
Our Story
The Beginning:
Alan and I met at work, in March of 2003. We immediately fell for each other, and after three months of dating we decided to officially commit our love to each other on June 7, 2003.
Our Story: In the six years that Alan and I have been together, we have shared a lot. We worked and lived together for the initial 5 years, so that had its fair share of challenges and joys alike. It is definitely a unique situation to work with your significant other! It can be hard to separate business from personal at times. Recently, I have been working on my B.A., attending UTD full time while also working full time for the last two years. That has also posed some challenges, but Alan, my family and friends have always been very supportive of my endeavor. Alan and I have also shared the joy of adopting our four cats that we adore, the frustration and heartbreak of a home robbery, and the adventures of home ownership. We are both excited to start this new chapter in our lives, as we continue to share the many ups and downs of love and life!
The Proposal:
Exactly six years after we made our first commitment to each other, Alan proposed. On our anniversary, June 7, 2009, Alan asked me the question of all questions. I woke up that Sunday morning, excited about our anniversary, but not having any special plans for the day, began to do some household chores, such as laundry. After cleaning the bathroom counter with bleach, I sat down on the couch to rest for a minute. Josie, my favorite cat, was walking nearby and I asked Alan to pick her up and hand her to me on the couch because she loves the smell of bleach on your hands after cleaning (weird - I know!). When I reached out to pet her I noticed an unusual item hanging from her collar - a diamond engagement ring! I think I squealed something like "Hon-eeeeeeeeey!" Then I think I said something like "Pin her down". (Haha! I was ready to wrangle poor Josie for the ring! She was a great courier service though!) Alan removed the ring from Josie's collar, and put it on my finger while he asked, "Will you marry me?" I said, "Of course - Yes!" We've both been especially happy since that day. I think I've been smiling the entire time!
Our Wedding
We decided on an intimate wedding for two in Jamaica as a reminder of the true meaning of the celebration of marriage - our committment to love, support, and honor each other for life. Nothing sounded better than an informal wedding on the beach, with the gorgeous turquoise Caribbean waters as our backdrop!
Our Reception
We are looking forward to celebrating our marriage with family and friends following our return from Jamaica! Once the Reception details are finalized, more information will be posted.
